I joined because I was applying to Japan jobs over and over and… literally nothing was happening. Like, no replies, no interviews, just silence. It got to the point where I was like “ok maybe I’m just not what they want??” The 3-month structure helped a lot because it gave me an actual routine instead of me randomly applying when I felt motivated. I finally understood what Japanese companies actually care about, and I fixed the way I was presenting myself (my CV was… not it 😭). Interview prep also helped. I used to overexplain everything and sound kinda awkward. The biggest thing for me though was seeing better remote/hybrid roles because it made the goal feel real, not just “maybe someday.” It honestly felt like I stopped guessing and started doing it properly.

I’m 41, so I had a real worry that age would make it harder, especially as a foreigner trying to enter a Japanese company. I didn’t want to waste months chasing unrealistic roles. Once I fixed that, I started getting replies and a few screening calls. Not like 50 interviews or anything, but enough to be like “oh, it’s working.” That honestly changed my mindset a lot. And when I got discouraged (which I did), having a plan kept me from disappearing for 2 weeks like I normally do.

It made the whole thing feel more doable. I still have work to do obviously, but it doesn’t feel impossible anymore.
